Pianezza was founded in 1935 in Azzio (VA) with the opening of the first workshop dedicated to the study of textile design. The Pianezza family had already been involved in this business since 1890.

Particular attention to taste, imagination and creativity makes Pianezza stand out when it comes to the design and creation of jacquard and printed designs, which have been carefully archived throughout the years. These designs have given life to one of the richest archives in Europe, which contains more than 3 million pieces.

From 1975 to 1980 a production line was built for the creation of knit ties with a production capacity of approximately 3,000 ties a day.

In 1981, in collaboration with Sophis Italia, one of the first textile CADs was invented and put into production. This optimized and accelerated the production process. In 1986, a textile CAD for 3D simulations was developed and created.

Since 1990, the business has diversified. Research and development is being carried out on new textile and thread structures in the aim of designing tie collections with reference markets in mind.

In 1998 this innovative spirit brought about the introduction of new ink jet technology, which allows for the transfer of designs directly onto fabric. The entire production process can be managed internally, with a great deal of flexibility and a consistent saving of time.

Presently, Pianezza Paolo s.r.l, headed by Paolo Pianezza in collaboration with his son and daughter, Michele and Paola, produces and sells textile designs destined for the making of ties, clothing and interior decorating and the production of personalised textile creations.
